Drama in education workshops for students in K–12.
The workshops include making and responding to drama in education; mime; stagecraft; or text development.
Workshops can also be designed for your specific context.

WORKSHOPS FOR STUDENTS
These workshops are professionally run and practical. They provide a safe environment and are fun as well!
The workshops immerse students in communication skills and self-expression and support each child to develop their unique voice through creative and active engagement.
Creating future voices is a passion of Lightning Strike and is the basis of these workshops.
For young children, these workshops build on the Early Years Learning Framework to:
- Provide purposeful and creative play in designed activities
- Develop connection to understanding as they make and respond to role-play and situation and explore voice, movement and story
- Expand and enhance oral language skills
- Develop language through drama and movement (‘embodied cognition’).
For primary students, the workshops provide:
- Purposeful and creative play in designed activities
- An understanding of dramatic elements such as drama voice, movement, situation, focus, tension, space and time
- Opportunities to make connections and explore empathy as they offer, accept and extend ideas.
For secondary schools students:
- Specialist workshops are designed to add to your drama program, for example, workshops in mime, stagecraft, interpretation of text and voice
- Devised performances can also be arranged over a series of workshops. Students will brainstorm, improvise, devise, script drama and rehearse for a specific theatre performance.
These workshops support your literacy objectives of speaking, listening and writing.

Devised performances can help all kinds of groups work together.
Do you have a special group that you want someone to work with on a specific project?
Do you have a group that needs to be empowered or transformed?
Do you have a cultural story to tell or want to engage an audience?
Why not consider a devised performance that can be realised through a series of workshops?
Here participants will:
- brainstorm
- improvise
- devise
- script
- rehearse
- perform original works.
These performances support learning by using a story narrative; exploring dramatic tension, symbol and dramatic genres; and working with design elements.
This is a complete authentic drama experience to engage students and other groups and provide opportunities for creative expression.
Devised performances support the Australian Curriculum in the Humanities and Social Sciences as students explore different perspectives, make informed decisions, problem-solve, develop identity and work collaboratively.

Lightning Strike – Drama That Ignites has been created by Lynette Moss to deliver tailored, dynamic professional development, workshops and creative devised performance for teachers and students of drama. Together, we build the experience of participants in workplace dynamics and group cohesion by growing empathy, setting boundaries and developing respect, emotional intelligence, communication skills and learning capabilities.

My career is in drama education and leadership. I worked at Edith Cowan University for 15 years, where I held the position of Senior Lecturer and also that of Primary Program Director in the School of Education. My responsibilities included lecturing in drama, designing curriculum, developing mentoring initiatives, community consultation, research and directing creative theatre projects.
Currently I am an online lecturer and unit coordinator in Performing Arts at the School of Education, Curtin University.
I have a good working knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework and extensive experience working in schools and running professional development for educators. My work has been combined with my love of travel, taking me throughout Australia, New Zealand, China, Singapore, Mauritius, England, Indonesia and now Hobart, Tasmania.
My earlier background was in singing, dance, clowning, mime, film, television and as an actor in Theatre in Education.
